Sitting Down for a Virtual Dinner

Using everyday video-conferencing technology like flat panel screens, high-speed networks and small cameras in new ways, researchers at Accenture think their "virtual dining" concept can help revive family gatherings — and lower health-care costs in the process.

"Let’s assume you had an elderly relative who couldn’t travel or a business event you had to attend to," says Lyle Ginsburg, managing director of the Accenture Tech Labs. "This technology allows family and friends to get together in an intimate way where otherwise it would be inpossible."
